The MECC suggested we'd install a rack (or a table) in front of
the phone distribution racks on the right.
(the far left on the photo must remain free)
The fibers to SER2 and SER3 are in the top 2 patch panels
of the open rack on the left.
The SURFnet fibers are in top of the bottom cabinet in the middle,
behind the closed doors.

(EuroFiber box is ours).
What 5 meter fibers would have brought us (when Chris said it was
a choice, just for the asking) is to lead the fibers around the
back of our equipment rack (which we don't have) and route them
around the back.
What 3 meters will bring us is that leading cables around the back
of our non-existant equipment rack may be more difficult.
Assuming the equipment to be at a height of the table (say, 1 meter
or higher), we'll have plenty of space to lead the fibers neatly
and still out of reach.
I may also be able to get a 19" rack if desired and if we have a way
to get it from Eindhoven to Maastricht (and to dispose of afterwards).
I've done crazy things by train but this is pushing it.
I'll leave the "sat dish upside down", "cat5-through-palm-trees",
"passing a cat5 through the cramped, un-isolated main power
distribution frame of a hotel" as stories for the bar, if desired.
