Gentlepeople,
Last time I was in Beijing, Chong Li of Tsinghua took Marcia, Laura, and I out for a traditional chinese foot massage to help us get over our jetlag. It was amazingly relaxing, and very nicely social. Enough so, that I joined the Secretariat in going back earlier this week.
In case you're not familiar with this type of massage, let me give you a quick overview. It takes place with you clothed (except for your feet) sitting in a recliner in a room with several other recliners. When you arrive, you're offered a drink, and each person has a dedicated masseuse. They then bring a nice hot tub of water for you to soak your feet while they massage your neck and shoulders. They then start a very thorough and relaxing massage of your feet and calves. All this takes about 90 minutes.
It occurs to me that this might be a very nice way to cap off two long weeks of IETF Network work, so I'd like to invite each of you to join me tomorrow evening. If you're not interested, or are uncomfortable with the idea, you're certainly not obligated, but I'd love to have you all come.
The place we went was the Oriental Taipan Massage & Spa (http://www.taipan.com.cn). A flyer for it is on top of noc2-sw.
Please let me know if you'd like to come, so I can reserve the right number of massages and hopefully arrange a private room. There's not a time chosen yet ... we'll determine that based upon availability and the teardown schedule.
Hope you'll all join me ... it will be another great opportunity for both the International and Tsinghua team to get together /outside/ the NOC.
