Hi Chris,
> 1. Will you need any short haul (SX) SFP's for communications between devices at the hotel?
SX is fine, we have some here and IETF shipped some as well.
> 2. What equipment will be on the Univ. side of the research link? Do you have the necessary hardware for that side? If so, what optics and frequency is being used? Part numbers of what's on that end, receive and send sensitivities would all also help. Other details would be nice, but will have to wait until the fiber is in, like span length and loss.
It is a T640 with a GE port and LH SFP, SFP says:
Wavelength 1550 nm
Fiber mode SM
Is it good enough for 20+ KM?
> When do you expect this link to be available for testing?
Next week.
> 3. Same questions about the commercial link. Do you have the necessary hardware for that side? If so, what optics and frequency is being used? I don't have any access to their network, so don't know an answer. But the manager told me he will look for SFPs with long range.

It will be terrific!! If all possible, I want wej carry
- 3x 4-port Juniper GE PICs
- 5x Juniper compatible SFPs which can do 20+ km (our team also start looking for loaning those SFPs, but more, better)
I will treat wej a very good meal for that :)
Thanks,
Leon

Leon,
Please detail the number of PIC's you will need. Do you only need PIC's for the routers going in the hotel? Do you also need a PIC for the university side of the link?
Please detail the SFP's needed:
1. Will you need any short haul (SX) SFP's for communications between devices at the hotel?
When do you expect this link to be available for testing?
3. Same questions about the commercial link. Do you have the necessary hardware for that side? If so, what optics and frequency is being used? Bill Jensen (wej) will be arriving in Beijing on 10/24. If we can determine what's needed in the way of PIC's and SFP's and find them somewhere in the US, he can hand-carry them to you.
Thanks!
Chris.
