It would appear the the hotel made a mistake with my room and I have a 
rather large-ish room.

Since Bits and Bites is Thursday, how about Wednesday after dinner or 
after the plenary (I could possibly afford to order a few pizzas).

I can't offer to drink any scotch since the drugs I'm on (yeah that 
explains my behavior) don't interact well alcohol.

Happy 15th anniversary to the Scotch BOF. If I'm remembering things
correctly, the first Scotch BOF was held in Orlando in Nov 1998, "hosted"
by Perry Metzger on a back porch of the Orlando hotel we were at. I always
considered it a great way to unwind a bit at the lend of a long IETF week.

In these 15 years of scotch BOFs, I don't think it's ever been held any
night other than Thursday. But hey, I'm willing to break tradition. Thanks
for offering your room, Geoff.

Happy 15th Birthday, Scotch BOF. Unless I'm totally off, it was 15 years
ago in November 1998 that the very first Scotch BOF was held in Orlando,
hosted by Perry Metzger on an off-the-beaten-path patio. It was a nice
warm evening for drinking a wee bit. It seemed to me to always be a nice
way to finish off a long IETF week, sliding into Friday.

I don't think the Scotch BOF has been held on any night other than
Thursday night in those 15 years, but I certainly don't mind breaking
tradition once in a while.

Sounds like a fine plan. Since I'm one of the guys doing demo in Bits
and Bites, the timing is perfect for me. I'll be in a desperate need of

By the way, I chatted with Perry, and he confirmed that Nov 1998 really
was the first Scotch BOF. It was an informal one that he, Francis and
Alain put together (I remember there being <10 people there), and the
following meeting in DC they formalized it a bit more.

He remembers that it was "the only decent booze that entire week :-)"

And thus a tradition was born.

Technically, it was hosted by Francis Dupont and Alain Durand. I was
merely a very happy guest, helping them with the burden of what they
found at the duty free shop on their way to Orlando. :)

I can't remember who decided that we were drinking to IPv6, but I
believe that by the next DC IETF things had gotten more formal. :)

A big thank you to you Geoff for being a fantastic host and to great folks last night. Had great fun with you guys. Drafts, dancing, whatever you can address in IETF..
