Hi folks,

This list has been quiet for a very long time! I noticed it in one of those monthly reminders about the mailing lists I'm subscribed to. ANYWAY, I'm getting the itch for a vacation and wondered if anyone out there might be interested in a group gathering somewhere fun. My initial thoughts are November-ish and somewhere warm but this is just a wisp of an idea and I'm open to suggestion. We're also thinking more seriously about housebuilding so might not end up with time to be away... will see how the year starts to unfold before making any commitments.

Not contradicting Heather's idea, but also adding some more info for 
those interested...

Jan and I are going diving in Cairns Feb 27 to March 5.  If anyone wants 
to jump on that liveaboard, let me know and I will send over details. 
There may still be staterooms.

We're also going to be Umbria-ing, probably August 25 to Sept 15.  Very 
relaxing (www.codeque.com) and very pleasant.

And finally I'll be working in Rome on-and-off for most of the year, so 
if anyone is passing through the Eternal City, don't forget to say "hello!"

Like the idea but not sure about summer. How's the diving in Bonaire later in the year? October/November? Any chance you'd be free later? Summer through September is pretty full for us but October/November may work. Where have you stayed there?

We'll be in Seattle (work for Bernard) while you're in Cairns... have fun!

Love the idea of going to Italy. We have a couple of weekends already planned around that time so probably won't work this year. We're thinking we'd go to Australia in 2013... maybe make that a loop via Italy...? I'd like to have a couple of weeks there.... need to save a little vacation time. Definitely thinking about when we can fit this in! We met Bernard's sister in Amsterdam last year. Perhaps we'd convince her to meet us in Umbria next :)

We've been walking around the country roads here but much shorter. Mild winter compared to the last two... really pleasant for little walks. Any of you are welcome to our guest room if you want some Appalachian walking in your future!
